MIke Hulinsky

Lead Pastor

Mike received Jesus Christ while he was a young boy growing up in Lincoln, Nebraska. He received his B.A. in Pastoral Studies from Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa in 1999, and his M.Div. from The Master’s Seminary in southern California in 2002.Mike and his wife Chris met at their local church in Lincoln and were married in 1999. The Lord has blessed them with four children: Ethan, Rebecca, Luke, and Karis. Mike has been serving at Le Mars Bible Church ever since his graduation from seminary, initially serving as youth pastor, then in 2007 transitioning to the associate pastor, and in 2017 becoming the lead pastor. Mike’s passion in life is to study, practice, and teach the all-sufficient Word of God. Nothing thrills him more than seeing God use His Word to change people’s lives. Most of Mike’s free time is happily spent with his wife and their four teenagers – other things Mike enjoys include spending time outdoors, reading, running, playing disc golf, and following Husker football.

Jake Wulbecker

Associate Pastor

Jake is originally from Council Bluffs Iowa, and was blessed to trust Christ as a child. He received a bachelor's degree in pastoral ministry from Grace University in 2010, and a master's degree in theology from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2014. Jake is married to Elizabeth, and they are the proud parents of their son Benjamin and daughter Joanna. Jake’s heart beats for the local church because the church is the vehicle God has chosen to reach sinners and equip saints! His desire is that God would use his gifts and passions to serve the local church. Jake’s personal gifts and passions lie in preaching and shepherding. Jake began working at Le Mars Bible Church in October 2017. A few of his hobbies include reading, playing basketball, and cheering for the Chicago Cubs!

Derek Plegge

Youth Pastor

Derek was born and raised in Gering, Nebraska and accepted Jesus Christ at a young age. He received a degree in Church Ministries: Youth Ministry at Liberty University located in Lynchburg, Virginia. Shortly after graduating, he took an internship position with a local church in Memphis serving in their high school ministry. Derek and his wife Jen met while serving together at a summer camp in Nebraska. They were married July 25th, 2015 in Jen’s hometown of Orange City, Iowa. Derek came to Le Mars Bible Church as the youth pastor for middle school and high school in May of 2017. His duties include preaching on Wednesday nights for the middle school and high school services, leading and equipping volunteers, creating and planning various events throughout the year, and also teaching Sunday school. One of Derek’s passions is to reach the younger generations with the gospel of Jesus Christ. As well, he wants to help them become grounded in their faith through the teaching of God’s Word and encourage them to live out the great commission in spreading the gospel to all people. It is such a joy to him to see when the younger generations are passionate for Jesus. Some of Derek’s hobbies include golfing, hiking, reading, spending time with his wife, competing in board games, cheering for the Husker football team, and playing guitar.

Fred Gums

Pastor of Congregational care

Fred grew up in North Dakota and came to know the Lord as a young boy. He received a degree in electrical engineering from North Dakota State University and then served in the Air Force for four years. He worked as a cost/scheduling engineer on construction projects in North Dakota and Wyoming. In 1985, God called him to seminary and he graduated from Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana in 1988. Shortly after, he accepted the call to serve as pastor at Le Mars Bible Church where he has been ever since. The joy of Fred’s life is to study and teach the Word of God and shepherd the people of God. He firmly believes that serving Jesus Christ by pastoring the local church is what God designed him for. He also finds great joy in being married to Kamie since 1973. They have two children who love the Lord and five wonderful grandchildren. In his spare time, Fred enjoys reading, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. Pastor Fred stepped down from his role as senior pastor on June 30, 2017, but continues to serve in a part-time pastoral role at LBC.

Kelly Lee
Office Manager

Kelly was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska.  She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of 7 during a Good News Club held in her home.  Kelly earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio.   After teaching for 11 years, in Wisconsin, Iowa and Nebraska, Kelly met and married her husband, Bob.  She was a stay-at-home mom until their girls were both in school.  Kelly then worked at a Christian non-profit agency where she coordinated an emergency food and clothing program for needy people.  She also assisted the Executive Director in the office.  Bob and Kelly have 2 daughters, Rebekah and Anna Mae.  In her spare time, she loves to read, cook, crochet and cheer on the Huskers and Green Bay Packers.
